The author first walked the Kokoda Trail in 1984 and soon began organising treks to take fellow Australians to the 1942 Battlegrounds. This book grew out of the trekking instructions by all his trek leaders and it was first published in 1994.
 
An Updated version of a handy reference book first published in 1994, which came out of the author's original 'trip manual' for his Kokoda tour business. Covers preparations (health, travel information, training requirements, equipment and clothing); getting to Port Moresby; and stages of the trek. Also includes as appendices the wartime history, safety and survival, and a Kokoda reading list.
